Common Core State Standards
As you may know, California has adopted the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). There are many wonderful resources available for students and parents. Common Core is "project-based" learning where students delve deeper into the standards and really gain a conceptual knowledge of the standards. Writing is a huge part of the Common Core and students are asked to provide evidence for all of their thinking in the form of complete sentences, both in Language Arts and Math.
